Papi and a Video so Bad that its Good

In the current Facebook and YouTube generation, having a memorable music video is crucial for a song's success. For many singers, the music video is a way to visually express his music and thoughts to reach a wider audience.

So what is Jennifer Lopez trying to achieve with the music video of Papi? The concept seems like it came right out of her own romantic comedy. She took a big bite of a magic cookie and found a mob of men falling for her and chasing after her down the street.

However, the execution was really lame and all over the place. The men were pouncing onto one another. Instead of falling in love with her, they looked as if they were going to beat her up. Men were abseiling down buildings and jumping out of glass windows. Even when cars crashed right behind her at a traffic junction, she appeared oblivious to the chaos she caused and walked on joyously. Then guys started jumping onto her car and shoved dogs (yes. Dogs) towards her. Then she found she could control the men using hand gestures. Then everyone went out of character and broke into a dance routine. To top it off, the most wooden actor, supposedly the "Papi", marched onto the screen at the end in an army uniform and rescued her from the mob.

I recalled the days where Jennifer Lopez was J Lo and made music videos that were sexy and cool. For a pulsating dance track that is suited for choreography, they could have made an awesome dance video that rivaled Single Ladies (Beyonce) or Don't Tell Me (Madonna). Instead, this music video played on like a cheesy 80s movie with terrible acting and ridiculous plot. It is so bad that it is good. Maybe she is trying to prove that she can be corny and do bad comedies.
